It was planned that the Susan B. Anthony Dollar would be a regular dollar coin that most Americans would accept because it is so small.
It doesn’t make sense to make a copper-nickel dollar that is barely bigger than a quarter right now. But a lot of giving in, cutting cuts, and supporting some groups went into making the Susan B. Anthony Dollar.
Congress was eager to move on from the failed coin deal in just a few months. The US Mint always made the new dollar at the same speed. There were 750 million coins made in 1979. A little less than 90 million coins were made in 1980.
Two different kinds of the Susan B. Anthony Dollar were made by the San Francisco Mint that year: one to be used in circulation and one to be part of the 1980 United States Proof Set.
There are six coins in the 1980 United States Proof Set. The Susan B. Anthony Dollar from the 1980s is one of them. There are also five other proofs. These are the 1980 Carter Nickel, 1980 Roosevelt Dime, 1980 Washington Quarter, and 1980 Kennedy Half Dollar.
Each coin in these sets is worth $1.91 now, but they were sold for $10, which is $40.57 now that prices have gone up. There were 3,544,806 coins sold.
There are big differences between each S-mint dollar. An awful lot of business strikes that have never been used have a smooth, shiny surface with die flow lines. The edges and reeds are sharper on Proofs, the raised areas are frosty, and the fields are smoothed out to a deep mirror finish.
The public wasn’t able to get the Proof version for some reason. On the other hand, collectors often split Proof sets so they can sell coins on their own or put them in albums. If the record or collection is split up, a Proof strike is more likely to spread.
“Impaired Proofs” are the name for these coins that get dirty or touch other coins while being used. Impaired Proofs are cool, but they don’t make the note more valuable.
What is the value of a Susan B. Anthony dollar proof from the 1980s?
Taking inflation into account, 1980 US Proof Sets are worth around $9–$10. They were first sold for $10, which is $40.57 today. They are worth more than 75% of what they were worth before. In the 1980s, Janet B.
Tony Proof costs around $5 by itself, and Proof 69 costs less than $10. Because of how they were made, all Dollar Proofs from the 1980s should be called Deep Cameo or Ultra Cameo.
Many Proof 70 coins are “perfect” in the hands of NGC and PCGS. Soon, CAC might have some too. Proof 70 coins shouldn’t have been broken after they were made. A score of “perfect” only means “perfect.” Many different kinds of 70s clothes can look great.

This is where most people buy and sell unfinished and real 1980s When it comes to Susan B. Anthony, it’s like eBay for bucks.
There are lots of different kinds of coins for sale, so a buyer doesn’t have to pay too much for coins with high “Buy It Now” prices. In these ads, Proof 70 Deep Cameo coins may cost $150, but in real life, they only sell for $25 to $30. Do not rush.
If someone on eBay sells fake coins that haven’t been checked, be careful. These coins aren’t worth anything as gifts.

Someone on eBay named Sirius Sports Cards makes the market for cheap current confirmed coins. Dozens of 1980s Ads by Dollar are where the PCGS PR70DCAM Proofs of Susan B. Anthony Dollar come from. During the months of November and December, this seller used the same picture for proof #27621849 more than once.

The front of the 1980s Susan B. Anthony: Susan B. Anthony fought for women’s right to vote. Dollar Proof has a picture of her that makes her look good. She is wearing a blouse or shirtwaist with a high neck, and she has bun her hair back.
If you look close, you can see the letters FG, which stand for artist Frank Gasparro. If you want to call a shape with 11 sides an undecagon, you can. There are straight and curved lines that go around the edge. The US motto is to the right of Anthony’s chin, and the word “LIBERTY” is at the top.
“In God We Trust.” Inside the rim are eleven stars, each with five points. There are six on the right and seven on the left. The line divides the right group of stars into two sets of three stars each. The year 1980 is written below Anthony’s bust, and there is a small S mintmark just above her right shoulder.
Going backwards:
Michael Collins made a different patch for the Apollo 11 trip and put it on the back of the card. On this trip, people went to the Moon for the first time.
There is a picture of the Moon with holes around the edge of the bottom third of the coin. There is an eagle on the left side of the coin with its wings spread out, as if it were about to land on the Moon. The eagle has an olive branch in its beak.
The words E PLURIBUS UNUM are written in the top center, just to the right of the eagle skull. Above and to the left of the head, you can see Earth. The words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” are written around almost half of the edge, standing out against the dark of space.
It says “ONE DOLLAR” at the bottom, on top of the moon. Thirteen stars with five points make a curve around the eagle on top of the earth and motto. These stars are below the words at the top. FG, which stands for “United States Mint Chief Engraver Gasparro,” is written below the eagle on the back.

In the 1900s, Frank Gasparro made a lot of American coins. In the beginning, he worked for John R. Sinnock as a junior assistant engraver. His next job was to become the 10th Chief Engraver of the US Mint.
Gasparro also made the Kennedy Half Dollar, both sides of the Eisenhower Dollar, and the back of the Kennedy Half Dollar. He created the Franklin Cent’s Memorial back.
